Endometriosis is more than just pain — it can silently compromise your fertility

Endometriosis is more than just pain — it can silently compromise your fertility.
Reproductive specialist Dr. Sesh Sunkara from King's College London emphasized at APAC 2026 that patients with endometriosis should consider fertility preservation early. Dr. Ying-Mei Tsai of AN-AN IVF Center shared the same clinical perspective at an international virtual conference this past March.
What the latest research tells us: A groundbreaking 2025 study published in Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) reveals that the 5-year cumulative utilization rate of frozen eggs among endometriosis patients reaches 48% — far exceeding that of cancer patients. This overturns previous assumptions and reflects the strong fertility motivation among endometriosis patients, as well as their comparatively better disease prognosis. The cost-effectiveness is remarkably high.
Key reminders:
- Fertility preservation options include egg freezing or embryo freezing
- Egg freezing has no marital status requirement — any woman can proactively preserve her eggs
- The younger, the better — ages 30–35 represent an ideal window
- It is recommended to pursue fertility preservation before surgery for optimal results
First step: AMH Blood Test Unsure about your ovarian reserve? We recommend starting with an AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) test to assess your ovarian reserve — one of the most important indicators for timing fertility preservation.
On government subsidies: Government subsidies currently cover egg freezing for cancer patients. Expanding this support to include endometriosis and other benign ovarian conditions with surgical risk is a direction the medical community is actively advocating for.
AN-AN IVF Center strongly supports this policy development and will continue to monitor legislative progress.
If you or someone you know is navigating endometriosis, we warmly invite you to schedule a consultation. Let us help you take proactive steps toward preserving your future fertility. ![]()
