Notarization & Verification by the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF)

According to the regulations of the Artificial Reproduction Act in Taiwan, couples who undergo assisted reproductive techniques must have a legal marriage relationship. According to Article 7 of the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area, documents issued by the Mainland Area must be verified by institutions or private organizations established or designated by the Executive Yuan of Taiwan. Therefore, the marriage certificate issued in the Mainland Area needs to be notarized by the Notary Office handling Taiwan-related matters in the Mainland Area and then verified by the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) before applying for an "Entry Permit" in Taiwan.
